As the next step in her SHATTERING project, artist Gilf! invited YNY graduates to participate in a brainstorming workshop to design ideas for a sculpture that will also double as seating for the community, to be fabricated from the broken glass from the exhibition. Everyone was interested by social messaging in public spaces, and the potential for expression that public art could create in a neighborhood.
The notion of using hands as the basis of the design for public seating was particularly compelling. Here, Monasia demonstrates an interlocking hands idea.
Jason poses with a "Cat's Cradle" hand position to demonstrate another public seating idea.
